Catastrophe of the Scientific Method

Ah, to be verifiable. The catastrophe of now is the harvest of a lens we have perhaps embraced too closely — that something has to be verified to be legitimate. That means it has to be verifiABLE and funded for verification efforts (whose quality varies), published and, well, you know, true. That's a lot of boxes to check and a lot of leverage for those with money. Granted, it is an incredibly effective lens in a lot of ways. The arc of science probably does bend toward truth. That is to say… science bends towards the truth about verifiable things. It is just too bad that possibly true things that are inherently unverifiable get treated as though they are untrue or invisible.

Note: this is only one way that the unacknowledged biases of 20th century science contribute to the 'catastrophe of now.'
