Different Senses, Different Metaphors for Emotions
Visual or auditory or vibrational approaches might bias cognition or social interaction or movement. And different sensorial approaches might empower different approaches to emotional regulation. The visual, egocentric, dualistic architecture supports the idea of setting up boundaries. From a vibrational perspective, the boundary might actually exacerbate the problem, while letting a potential 'assault' pass through would be a winning strategy. From a Feldenkrais perspective, it is all about expanding the repertoire. Don't just look at the frying pan, hear the sizzle. Don't just draw your psychological strategies from the visual field--change them up! Find yourself in time instead of space. Try knowing the world and its people from profoundly different perspectives, to the point where even the word 'perspective' is recognized for the bias it is.
